Fans of Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie are flipping twice on social media after it was revealed that he will be featured on Jay Z’s new album dubbed Ascension.
A photo of the supposed tracklist for the latest album popped up online and Sarkodie was featured on track 2 titled “Black Chronic”.
Judging from the artistes featured on Jay Z’s new project, he seem to have sort exotic talents from the African market just as his wife Beyonce did with her Lion King Album.
The album features African stars like Olamide, Sarkodie, Femi Kuti, and Nasty C and other international acts like Beyoncé, Rick Ross, H.E.R, and the duo of Lighthouse family.
The renown rapper was quoted to have said in a statement released by Roc Nation that ;
“I’ve always wanted to get in touch with my roots and connect to the motherland. You know, Africa is blessed with so much talent and I felt like it was time to tap into that resource. The Ascension is not just talking or focusing on Africa but it’s also about me giving back to the people, familiarizing with the culture and connecting more with the motherland.”
“The Ascension” – which can only be streamed exclusively on Tidal in its opening weekend – is coming as a surprise considering the less/no hype preceding the unveiling of the tracklist for the album. Unlike, Beyonce’s “Lion King: The Gift” album, which featured the likes of Burna boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Shatta Wale, and Tekno.
As musch as we wished this was true, we are sad to announce that the track list, the album title and the entire hype around Sarkodie featuring Jay-Z was someone’s idea of pulling an April Fool’s Prank on us.
